In Leg Two of our three year coast-to-coast journey, our 2004 Expedition Education adventure took us by train from Toronto, North of Superior, through the rugged Canadian Shield to Winnipeg.
In Manitoba, we explored historic Hudson Bay forts, toured Winnipeg’s remarkable Man In Nature Museum and visited the home and grave site of Louis Riel.

Traveling across the Prairies by motorhome and van, we learned more about Metis and First Nation history as well as the development of the railway and wasteful slaughter of the great buffalo herds.

In Alberta, we visited the badlands, where dinosaurs once roamed and later we explored Canada’s magnificent Rocky Mountain jewels, Banff and Jasper National Parks.

West Wind originated as the senior campus of Dearcroft Montessori School (est. 1968), and acted as an independent preparatory day school program offering Senior Elementary (grades 4 – 6) and Junior High (grades 7/8).  In 2008, to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Dearcroft Montessori, we combined as a single campus.  Our program is now fully operated from the Dearcroft campus at 1167 Lakeshore Road East, Oakville.
