ASSESSMENT & REPORTING

The focus of the WWJH program rests firmly on building the skills and confidence for future success.  As most of our students continue on to traditional high school models, we incorporate certain elements to help students gain comfort in preparation for grade nine.

Students receive assessment of most of their work using a numerical mark system and comments as feedback on their work from the teachers. Students are also involved in self-evaluation and goal setting.   With small class sizes, students get individual help when they are having difficulty.  WWJH students receive 3 report cards, one per term (November, March, and June).  The report cards break down learning skills and subjects and provide evaluation and insight for students and parents both through grades and individual comments.

IN THE HEART OF OAKVILLE

HISTORY

West Wind originated as the senior campus of Dearcroft Montessori School (est. 1968), and acted as an independent preparatory day school program offering Senior Elementary (grades 4 – 6) and Junior High (grades 7/8).  In 2008, to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Dearcroft Montessori, we combined as a single campus.  Our program is now fully operated from the Dearcroft campus at 1167 Lakeshore Road East, Oakville.
