HISTORY

West Wind originated as the senior campus of Dearcroft Montessori School (est. 1968), and acted as an independent preparatory day school program offering Senior Elementary (grades 4 – 6) and Junior High (grades 7/8).  In 2008, to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Dearcroft Montessori, we combined as a single campus.  Our program is now fully operated from the Dearcroft campus at 1167 Lakeshore Road East, Oakville.

As a second generation Montessori educator, a Montessori parent, and having been a Montessori child himself, West Wind’s director Gordon Phippen has a unique perspective.  Within the school, small by choice (combined present enrolment of 170), we feature a strong community atmosphere and intimately scaled learning environment.  West Wind’s directors, supported by like-minded parents and dedicated staff, have developed a remarkable learning community.  With a low student to teacher ratio, our staff enjoys ideal conditions for helping our students to achieve their personal and academic goals. In addition to impressive academic ability, the independence and strength of character of Dearcroft/West Wind graduates reflects the quality of the education we provide.
