PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Celebrating its 15th year, West Wind Junior High (WWJH) is a two-year model that prepares students for success in high school and the world beyond.  Inspired by the life work of Maria Montessori, the program provides an integrated, experience-based curriculum intended to stimulate students’ minds.  While drawing on diverse educational experiences, the program also meets or exceeds the key expectations of the Ontario Government Curriculum Outline for grade seven and eight, with emphasis on preparation for high school.  Our Junior High class averages 20 students with 2 fully qualified intermediate teachers. Our graduates move on to High School with confidence and clarity of vision. Collaborative and motivated, they emerge from our program with a strong academic foundation and of profound importance, they carry with them a genuine strength of character.

IN THE HEART OF OAKVILLE

HISTORY

West Wind originated as the senior campus of Dearcroft Montessori School (est. 1968), and acted as an independent preparatory day school program offering Senior Elementary (grades 4 – 6) and Junior High (grades 7/8).  In 2008, to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Dearcroft Montessori, we combined as a single campus.  Our program is now fully operated from the Dearcroft campus at 1167 Lakeshore Road East, Oakville.
